Ahmad Fazelzadeh said in an interview with IRNA on Wednesday that Iran ranked first among 57 Islamic countries in terms of the number of scientific citations it received in 2023.
The Islamic Republic ranked first among 57 Islamic countries in the said period based on Scopus database, he added.
In 2022, Iran ranked 17th in the world and 2nd among Islamic countries, he said, adding that this is a sign of the growth of Iran's institutions and universities over the past year.
Elsewhere in his remarks, Fazelzadeh said that Iranian researchers ranked 24th in the world by publishing 17 hot papers in 2023 and 26th in the world in 2022 with 83 hot papers.
